Aaardvark began in 1972 selling primarily vintage clothing. The Hermosa Beach store was the first in a chain of “Aaardvark’s Odd Ark” stores, selling vintage clothing before vintage became mainstream.  Jon & Donna McCormack worked for the original owner for 12 years before buying the store in 1984.  We kept the name, but shortened it to "Aaardvark”.  While there are still several Aaardvark’s Odd Ark stores in So. Calif., we are not affiliated.
      We continue offer a fine selection of vintage clothing in the store. Sometime in the early 90’s, we expanded to carry new clothing & costumes for all party occasions, including 50’s-60’s-70’s-80’s.   We strive to make our store a “one-stop shop” for whatever type of theme party you are going to.  Besides clothing, we are fully stocked with a huge assortment of wigs, jewelry, accessories, hosiery, and shoes.
      We lost our lease in Hermosa after 34 years in the same building.  We recently moved to nearby Redondo Beach.  In August ’06, we opened in a newer, bigger, parking friendly location.
